support the Shediac Public Library
On June 18th 2010, members of the Shediac Public Library Board gathered at the library to receive a $10,000 cheque from Grand Knight Guy Lavigne on behalf of the Shediac Knights of Columbus Council 7334. These funds will be used to purchase much needed French and English non-fiction books for children and teenagers that will cover a myriad of subjects and help keep the collection current and reliable. A Plaque of appreciation and a Certificate of merit were presented to the Grand Knight Guy Lavigne on behalf of the Shediac Knights of Columbus Council 7334 by the Shediac Public Library Board as a gesture of their gratitude.
Paul Ménard, Chairman of the Shediac Public Library Board, noted that one of the library’s goals is to provide current reading resources and accurate information, therefore it's collection must be up-to-date. He added that this donation to the library was indeed a wonderful gift to the community that will encourage and enable the pursuit of knowledge and consequently promote individual growth.

This fall season, the library will be offering many activities. Some old favorites are returning, as well as a new program.
- In September, independent readers ages 9 and up (grades 4 and up) are invited to participate in the Hackmatack Children’s Choice Award Book Club, in which participants will be asked to read books by Canadian authors. Participants will read books among the following four categories: English Fiction, English Non-Fiction, French Fiction, and French Non-Fiction. Afterwards, they can vote for their favorite books from each of the categories in which they are registered. The winner authors will then receive the Hackmatack Children’s Choice Award. You can register at your library. It’s free!
- In response to the growing demand by the public, the library is again offering Babies at the Library, a program for babies aged 0 to 18 months and their parent or caretaker. This program goal is to introduce books to babies in a jovial and friendly atmosphere. This program promises nursery rhymes, singing and finger play. To register your child to this activity, you can call us at 532-7000, ext. 244, or you can come to the library. It’s free!
